Birth in hospital with your own midwife

An elective midwife is there just for you throughout the birth. An elective midwife birth in hospital is a good opportunity to take advantage of both the personal 1:1 care provided by your own midwife and the hospital setting with all its possibilities.

Outpatient birth ("Ambulante Geburt")

If you are discharged from hospital in the first 24 hours after birth, this is referred to as an outpatient birth. If mother and child are doing well, there is much to be said for leaving the hospital as early as possible and being cared for by a midwife at home.

Home birth - at a glance

Home births are a safe option for healthy women. Continuous 1:1 care, very conscientious monitoring of the birth process, and a generous transfer to hospital if necessary are additional safety factors.

If you are generally interested in a home birth, you should contact a midwife/midwife team as early as possible to get to know each other and find out together what your needs and options are and how they can best be met.
